Spreading the word in Sweden

Tue 25 Feb, 2014

Busy as ever, our Director Roz flew out to Sweden to spread the word and understanding of natural hydraulic limes. Henrik Larsson (not the footballer!) of Hantverkslaboratorient, part of the University of Gothenburg, organised a seminar for over 65 building professionals in conjunction with the engineering company, Bjerling AB, who specialise in the repair and conservation of historic buildings and structures, at their premises in Uppsala (north of Stockholm). Roz was the headline speaker and explained very succinctly the setting characteristics of natural hydraulic limes in contrast to both air limes and cement binders. Roz did find some time in her busy schedule to walk amongst the old town of Stockholm, ‘stappit foo’ (full of – in English!) of beautifully rendered and limewashed buildings. We are looking forward welcoming a contingent from Scandinavia for more learning opportunities here at Charlestown Workshops in September.
