Roz Artis-Young MA Hons MSc Dip Bldg Cons (RICS) IHBC

Roz Artis-Young, Director of the Scottish Lime Centre Trust, has over 15 years experience in building conservation through its advisory service Charlestown Consultants and it’s training arm Charlestown Workshops. Roz has a passion for encouraging the reinstatement of local vernacular finishes and colours, particularly limewashes which are authentic aesthetically and technically and help to preserve the regional identities of our built heritage. Roz has been a committee member of the Building Limes Forum and is currently on the management committees of both the National Heritage Training Group and Learn Direct and Build.

Bryan Paterson OBE MRICS

Bryan is a Chartered Building Surveyor with extensive experience of traditional buildings. In addition to his professional qualifications and experience, Bryan has a trade background as a time served joiner. Bryan previously worked with the Scottish Executive, the Ancient Monuments Department (now Historic Scotland) and latterly as Head of Estates at the Scottish Prison Service. Bryan 'retired' in 1999 and subsequently joined SLCT the following year.

Alice Custance-Baker BSc Hons MScR

Alice is a Building Materials Scientific Consultant. Her background is in geology with a BSc Hons degree and Master of Science by Research degree both from the University of Edinburgh. Alice's postgraduate research (funded by Historic Scotland) was a scientific investigation into the sandstone coating product Linostone. Alice is a member of the Scottish Stone Liaison Group's Stone Forum, is the Assistant Secretary (Lectures) of the Edinburgh Geological Society and is a member of the Architectural Heritage Society for Scotland's Cases Panel.
