Penicuik House Doors Open Day

Scottish Lime Centre Trust (SLCT) staff again put on building craft demonstrations and ‘have a go’ sessions as part of Penicuik House Project’s 7th Doors Open Day whilst Sir Robert Clerk of Penicuik House Preservation Trust (PHPT) gave two very well received guided tours of the site and fascinating history of Penicuik House and it’s ongoing consolidation. Over 100 visitors enjoyed watching demonstrations of traditional lime mortar pointing, stone carving and letter cutting and children enjoyed painting and decorating plaster casts. In addition, Dave Clark, SLCT’s Building Surveyor was on hand to give technical and practical advice on all aspects of building repair, restoration and conservation. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
